Lia Ices

  • Lia Ices, pianist and vocalist, grew up in Connecticut. Since the age of five, when she first started playing piano, Lia has been defining and refining her creative voice and its outlet. While at NYU’s Tisch School in the Experimental Theatre Wing, she was inspired to turn her stagecraft inward. By using her voice as a vehicle for emotion and expression, songwriting came with immediacy. Lia’s debut album NECIMA was born on the piano and with the voice, drawing up feelings we get when we listen to the inspired songwriting of our old favorites -- those artists who created a new sound for themselves that begged others to follow. What comes to follow on NECIMA is an eight song stream of double helix lyrics, braided together by a rainbow of sounds; among them, gemshorn, a Colombian hand drum, White album era electric guitar, bass clarinet, cello, and always at the core: Lia’s voice and piano. Recorded and produced by Nicolas Vernhes in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and out on his label Rare Book Room Records this September 9th.

Mike Bones

  • "'The Sky Behind The Sea' is the astounding solo debut by NYC guitarist Mike Bones, on his own for the first time after shredding for local projects like Soldiers of Fortune. Guitar heroics meet sterling downers of self-authored songs in the punished man template, heralded by a lineage of players from Townes van Zandt, Leonard Cohen and Tom Verlaine, up through Chris Brokaw or Cass McCombs. You'll hear a wide range of stately, world-weary doom here, from the quick snap of "Pope John Paul" to the colder, machine-drum glide of "Town Crier." Bones has one foot in traditions of music he obviously loves, and the ability to inject those traditions with his own masterful touches. An astonishing album that resides in my top 10 of 2007." The Jaguar Club

  • The Jaguar Club are a (power?) trio residing in Brooklyn NY who formed shortly before New Years Eve 2006. The band recorded an EP of danceable pop tunes and quickly commenced playing shows wherever they could in their hometown. Later they started vanning it up and down the rest of the Eastern seaboard which they enjoyed a great deal. The next year they recorded another better EP, and did a bunch more touring. The past 6 months have primarily found them in upstate hippie seclusion writing and recording what is rumored to be one heck of a first full-length record. That album is still very much in progress... however, having always been quite the live band, they've decided to scratch their itch and take a pile of new songs to the stage for a few shows this summer. Hope you like 'em.

Jason Rossi

  • Jason Rossi is an American singer and songwriter who is currently based out of New York City. Though a native New Yorker, Jason did spend a portion of his life in Los Angeles, California, consistently performing shows either solo on acoustic guitar & harmonica or with a full group. He relocated back to Manhattan in 2005 & assembled a brand new group of seasoned musicians, who's natural blending of roots rock, blues & electric folk music has become the perfect complement to his diverse lyrical themes, moods & vocal melodies.

The chemistry of Rossi's live shows with the electric band have been favorably compared to The Band, Wilco, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers & The E Street Band, with each member adding his own distinctive voice and personal stamp to the songs, bringing fresh life to them. The result is simply a great live show with excellent songs played by an excellent group who's roots draw from the rock and folk music of the late 1960's and 70s' but who's stimulating approach keeps the music vibrant & animated.
