The Royal Chains

  • “One and one and one is three”. NYC based 3-piece The Royal Chains craft bittersweet love songs from 60’s melodic pop sensibilities and au currant angst and neuroses. The boys have been making a name for themselves with their electrifying stage show and limited release 7” single on indie label Plays With Dolls Records. The Royal Chains bring an inclusive atmosphere of energy, mischief, fun and even a little touch of awkward (ness) to their style. Above all, the Chains’ main focus isn’t “hitting it big”; it’s doing what they love. If that comes at the price of personal and financial freedom, so be it.

Singer/Guitarist Adam Roddick met bassist Dan Lawley at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. They didn’t meet drummer Mike Stefanov until moving to New York City after graduation. It took some time to get together, solidify the lineup (what band hasn’t gone through a few personnel changes?), and create an original, angst driven sound. It’s time to let the music and the shows speak for themselves. The Royal Chains are available anytime for face-rocking, school dances, sock hops, awk-hops, hand-holding, romance, html protocol, spreadsheet documentation, and all manner of paranormal elimination needs. They’re ready for you to believe them.

The Black Hollies

  • "Some acts are content to find a style and stick with it. The Black Hollies are more interested in progress. When the band convened in 2005 to record their debut - Crimson Reflections - it was something of an experiment, mixing 60's soul and pop structures with rave-up rock results. Now, after wide acclaim and a practice regiment that has left their jaw-dropping live shows tighter than a pegged pant leg, they've reached a little further into space, introduced a wonderfully psychedelic element to their sound, and come out on the other side with Casting Shadows, a powerful rock album full of unforgettable nuggets.

Led by songwriter, vocalist and bassist Justin Angelo Morey, this crew of NY/NJ natives and lifelong friends also includes fellow Rye Coalition alums Herb Wiley V and Jon Gonnelli on dueling interstellar guitars, and the 8-armed wonder Nick Ferrante on drums. Together, the quartet meld classic rock touchstones with a disparate amount of influences and ideas. Garnering massive accolades over their East Coast adventures and unforgettable performances at both SXSW and CMJ as well as hometown freakouts alongside everyone from Ted Leo and The Spinto Band to Blue Cheer and Joan Jett to The Fleshtones and The Woggles, The Black Hollies continue to win over any crowd with a mix of straight skill and total sincerity. You can rest assured that if you catch them once, you won't be able to shake it."

Howlies

  • Howlies (Atlanta, Georgia) have created an infectious, unexpected sound with the modern melding of early rock 'n' roll with hints of surf and doo-wop. They are quickly becoming known for their fun and stirring live shows - the audience is often inspired to dance and howl-along to the band's signature group harmonies. Based upon basement recordings only, the newly-formed band secured the praise and producing duties of legendary producer Kim Fowley (The Runaways, The Modern Lovers, The Germs) for their debut album, "Trippin' with Howlies", scheduled for release in Fall 2008, with the single/EP, "Sea Level", releasing in August 2008.

Paper Route

  • PAPER ROUTE:://:: (as told by Chad Howat) I was tired. There was just this lingering sense of exhaustion in the summer of 2004. I was tired of false starts. Tired of dreaming. Tired of being jaded. Tired of being tired. So it seems fitting that this story begins underneath my bed. You may picture me crawling below my mattress, but in reality my bed is about 6 feet above the ground-enough space for a small iBook and some cheap monitors. When I couldn't sleep, I'd descend my steps and make music all night. Some bands have LSD, others have cocaine, and our drug of choice seemed to be insomnia. I programmed, played bass, synths and even snuck into an undisclosed location masquerading as a music student to record piano. JT Daly, a close friend and old band mate, started coming over to sing, sample, and play toy keyboards. We had always wanted to do a project together and finally it was becoming a reality. After a month or so went by, Andy Smith, another close friend and ex-band mate who lives above me, started coming downstairs and contributing vocals, guitar, harmonica, and some synths. A band had naturally formed between the three of us and we were making music together, once again.

After releasing two EP’s, we began preparing to perform the songs live. Long time friend and drummer Gavin McDonald joined us and we played shows across the North East and Mid-Western states. We recorded bits and pieces and released what we thought was the best. We spent far too much time working and not enough time with our loved ones. We read as much as we could and wrote more.

So its 2008 and these EP’s are what we have to show for the sleepless nights. We hope that you enjoy them as much as we’ve enjoyed creating them.
