Stolen Jars - (Set time: 7:30 PM)
Stolen Jars
Stolen Jars is the indie music project of Cody Fitzgerald and Molly Grund. Inspired by acts as diverse as Sufjan Stevens, Elvis Costello, and Dirty Projectors, the music is a vibrant mixture of looping intricate guitar lines and floating melodies all brought to life by a live band featuring Peter Enriquez, Matt Marsico and Max Finkelstein.

Fitzgerald and Grund are building off the success of Stolen Jars’ self-titled album released in 2011. The single off that album, “Driving,” was featured in an international Apple iPad commercial and was awarded Song of the Week by Alt Mag. Their sophomore album Kept is decidedly more ambitious. Fitzgerald composed and layered tracks in his bedroom, tinkering to ensure precision. He and Grund then worked together to build vocal melodies around the tracks. When premiering, “Folded Out,” the first single from Kept, Wondering Sound wrote, “Cody Fitzgerald and Molly Grund’s voices spiral and intertwine . . . flutes dart like fireflies, strings swoop down — what started modest and pretty becomes mighty and bold and imposing.” After the other single releases more music bloggers, including Stereogum, NPR, and Gold Flake Paint, who named Kept one of the Top 40 Albums of the Year, enthusiastically agreed, describing the music, as “addictively vibrant,” “sweetly supple,” “grand, an anthem.” The album was mixed by Eli Crews (tUnE-yArDs, Deerhoof, WHY?) and mastered by Jeff Lipton (Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, LCD Soundsystem). Their live show has been lauded as well, as they were featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered’s “Top 10 Discoveries from CMJ.”

Over the course of the last year, Stolen Jars has been touring in the Northeast, including shows with Porches, Deradoorian, Le1f, and Jessie J. In addition, Fitzgerald has been working as a film composer on feature films such as The Rewrite (2015) and Hard Sell(2016).

“One of my favorite discoveries at this year's CMJ Music Marathon in New York City was Stolen Jars… They make music that at times has the stuttered feel of progressive rock, but with a gentler, lilting tone to its somewhat unusual time signatures and repetition.”

Humeysha - (Set time: 6:30 PM)
Humeysha
Written and conceived in India and Pakistan by Zain Alam, Humeysha channels diverse influences, echoing sounds from New York to New Delhi. The multilingual self-titled debut evokes a wayfarer’s meditative travels through heritage and homeland. From the Hindustani music of Bollywood to the post-punk of bands like Deerhunter, Humeysha is inspired by the experience of living between cultures and a sense of belonging found through music.

- “A marvelously mellow kind of psych-pop, clean and sparkly like a diamond baguette, dappled with Bollywood-toned lilts.” - Noisey
- “Humeysha melts modal guitars and puja bells with a reverbed vocal that scans as post-Panda Bear, but with less Brian Wilson and more fodder for mantra." - Revolt
