Dances
Dances
Trevor Vaz (guitar/vocals) and Jeremy Blackman (bass) are bartenders. Matt Gaffney (drums) is a music teacher in the Bronx. All three are native New Yorkers. They play together in a group called Dances, the music of which is moody and minimal but colorful. Manic 70s punk meets lazy romantic 90s Britpop. Three part vocal harmonies backed by noisy guitars and big beats.

"Big beats are the best. Get high all the time." - Peep Show

Trevor's songwriting is predominantly autobiographical, giving his songs—which are often loud and fast—a tender quality. He spent his teenage years alone (his single mother worked overseas) in an apartment on the Lower West Side of Manhattan. He comes from a large Indian catholic family that he is no longer in touch with. He suffers from Pure O—a form of OCD. All of this and obviously more inform his songwriting. He and Jeremy both studied at Columbia University, but they met under a bridge in Brooklyn. Jeremy acted as a child and was the kid in P.T. Anderson's Magnolia. Matt played in other notable bands (Porches, Titus Andronicus, Lost Boy?) and had a reputation. Life brought the three of them together, and there's some power there.

Dances has released an EP, Whiter Sands (Black Bell, 2014), and an LP, Keep Talking (Black Bell, 2015). They are gearing up to release their second full-length, Venus Figurine, later this year.
Caddywhompus
Caddywhompus
Band from New OrleChris Rehm and Sean Hart, the New Orleans via Houston duo, have been playing music together since middle school and have been crafting avant-pop tunes under the binomen of Caddywhompus since 2008. Their live show is a tightly crafted barrage of dynamic energy, utilizing dreamy dips and explosive crescendos executed with math rock like precision. On stage, the duo faces each other in front of a teetering wall of amps presenting their binary dialogue to the audience. Over the years, the band has released 4 albums, extensively toured the United States and has performed internationally in Europe, Brazil and Canada. In the last 6 months, Caddywhompus has opened for Thee Oh Sees, Parquet Courts and Dungen as well as finalized the production of their newest LP. The band will be releasing the LP in 2017 around plays at SXSW & BUKU Fest.
