Jonah Matranga has spent the last decade in the music industry and has approached every step of the way by his own terms. After recording with FAR, NEW END ORIGINAL, ONELINEDRAWING and GRATITUDE, Jonah has taken it upon himself to release music for his diehard fans. His shows are super personal and very DIY complete with "name your own price" merchandice.
We Are The Woods - (Set time: 8:30 PM)

September 14, 2012 (Brooklyn, NY) New York City musicians We Are The Woods are readying the release of Whales & Roses produced by Jeremy Sklarsky (producer of Freelance Whales debut album Weathervanes.) And they’ll be sharpening cloven hooves with a smoldering set of all their hits and then some at The Living Room on September 30th at 9PM.
Combining Simon and Garfunkle-like harmonies with the wild horse spirit (and mane) of Robert Plant, invoking the evocative lyrical precision of Emily Dickinson. The celestial voices (Jessie Murphy's charismatic lead and Marcia Webb's spot on backing vocals) transform good songs into beautiful, arresting gems. This NYC based group led by a female duo employs acoustic guitars and a variety of other instruments strings, flutes, tubas, you name it) to craft beautiful, sophisticated and intense songs. The Deli says that, “their celestial voices (Jessie Murphy’s charismatic lead and Marcia Webb’s spot on backing vocals) transform good songs into beautiful, arresting gems. “
“Like many other indie kids, after a wild and rocking youth full of disdain for all forms of tradition, we have slowly grown to Enjoy folk music, in particular when it’s somehow “bastardized” – the redeeming quality! This is a concept that – although clashing with the immaculacy of their music – is pertinent to We Are The Woods. This NYC based group led by a female duo employs acoustic guitars and a variety of other instruments (strings, flutes, tubas, you name it) to craft beautiful, sophisticated and intense songs that are thoroughly enjoyable. The folk matrix is still audible, but here orchestral, pop and even psych elements take over the reins. As it often happens in softer music, the vocals are a crucial element, and the ladies deliver big time in this department. Their celestial voices (Jessie Murphy’s charismatic lead and Marcia Webb’s spot on backing vocals) transform good songs into beautiful, arresting gems. “ - The Deli
Whales and Roses will be released on October 30th.

Dave Wanamaker - (Set time: 7:30 PM)

After a four year hiatus following the break up of critically acclaimed band Loveless, London-born, New York based songwriter Dave Wanamaker returns to the stage with a new band and his debut solo effort, Shelter. Recorded in Nashville at Ronnie’s Place (previously the musical home of Ronnie Milsap and Roy Orbison) and co-produced with long time friend Gibb Droll, Shelter is both timely and timeless. Sonically lush and emotionally complex -- a sort of country-inflected and atmospheric Brit-pop -- Shelter showcases Wanamaker’s hook-laden, streamlined songwriting and echoes with shimmering, dream-like guitars, subdued lyrics and finely wrought storytelling. Wanamaker is joined by New York and Boston music scene stalwarts Joe McMahon (bass), Pete Caldes (drums), Jay Barclay (guitars), and Chris LoPresto (piano). Shelter is slated for release early next year.
