The Dardys are a 5-piece NYC based indie pop band. With equal nods to Merseybeat, Buddy Holly and Nirvana, The Dardys construct catchy and hooky songs around unconventional and sometimes uncomfortable arrangements. Don't be fooled, The Dardys are no retro nostalgia trip, constantly changing and finding new ways to force a piece of music through the 5 distinct personalities in the band. After releasing their EP "Perfume & Leather" in spring of 2011, The Dardys went on a national tour including shows at SXSW and stops throughout the south and midwest. As a local NYC band, The Dardys have played extensively throughout NYC, at parties for VICE magazine and MMNY music festival, where they played in a park in Soho. Their first EP "Stumbles Blackout" was self-released in 2009 and showcases their transition to a fully fledged rock band.
Drowners - (Set time: 8:30 PM)
The Drowners formed in 2011 when singer Matt Hitt moved to New York from Wales with a backlog of songs recorded through the in-built mic of his computer. Shortly thereafter, Jack Ridley, David Rubin and Erik Snyder joined in and made it loud.
Musically, they are influenced by Marr-esque guitar lines and post-punk drum patterns. Otherwise, they concern themselves with the troubles of Billy Fisher, the works of Gregory Corso and Richard Burton’s love life. Their songs are born out of the frustration and spite experienced by the British New Wave of angry young men. The Drowners bash out short, economic pop songs.
Their first double A-side single for Long Hair/Unzip Your Harrington is released later this month
