Gemini Club - (Set time: 10:30 PM)
Gemini Club
Gemini Club is Dan Brunelle, Tom Gavin, Ryan Luciani and Gordon Bramli, a four-piece indie-electronica band from Chicago, Illinois. Far from the conventional live performance, Gemini Club has a specially designed rig that allows for on-the-fly remixing of its own songs — meaning each show is different from the last.
As a featured Red Bull Sound Select Artist, Gemini Club has been tearing up the electro-pop scene with “Sparklers” on Sirius XM’s Alt Nation and a college tour across the Midwest. Not only did Gemini Club support The Sounds in sold out shows on its fall 2013 tour, but has opened the stage for the likes of AWOLNATION, Panic at The Disco, Metric, Chromeo, A-Trak, Two Door Cinema Club, Who-Made-Who, Dj Falcon and Chateau Marmont.
From the mid-west to the Orient, Gemini Club’s own remix chops are in demand online and across the globe. Their remix for Australian band The Vanish went straight into the top ten of Hype Machine’s charts. The band’s spin on “Cold Dust Girl” entered the same top ten charts on five different occasions within a month - and their remix for Shinichi Osawa has been a mainstay on the iTunes dance charts in Japan. The gents of GC’s remix of Chilly Gonzales premiered on the RCRD LBL blog as the most downloaded track of the week.
As a talent on the rise, Gemini Club has been hard at work recording a new EP that is to be sure to keep people's feet moving on dance floors everywhere for the rest of the year.
HITS - (Set time: 9:30 PM)
Dictionary definitions prove useful -- prophetic, even -- when listening to HITS, the New York-based synth rockers whose songs are a collection of incisive scenes of the 21st century condition all set to infectious pop arrangements. Few bands ever land on a name that so aptly describes both their sound, and the effect it has on its audience. In its many iterations, the word ‘hit’ denotes the following: To collide with; to affect; to perform successfully; to win. Synth lines shimmer under guitars burnished by sixty years of musical history, laced with lead singer Louis Epstein’s croon on subjects broad (heartbreak) and specific (television series). With guitarist Ben Vescovi, keyboardist Erik Tonnessen (live member of Holy Ghost!), and drummer Chris Stein (former member of the The Drums) they have positioned themselves to be at the top of bands to watch this year. Fortunately for listeners, it happens the band is just as good at making music as they are at naming it. Listeners are first struck, then dazzled, then ultimately won over.
They’ve shared the stage with artists such as Tom Tom Club, Capital Cities, MNDR, Cloud Nothings, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.
