Manitou
Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen,

Paddy Boom (former drummer of Scissor Sisters) and Tim Shipman created Manitou. Manitou make organic and soulful rock music with a nod to the funk and blues. The Manitou band will be making their Mercury Lounge debut January 20th with a ‘one night only’ show with some very special guests including the legendary guitarist Carlos Alomar and bassist-in-demand Paul Frazier. In addition there will be a 9 piece backing band.

Paddy Boom and musical partner-in-crime Tim Shipman are finishing a brand new EP called ‘Help is on the way”. Starting with a few casual jams in the fall of 2010, they began writing songs with no other reason that it just made them feel good. Last spring in April 2012, along with the help from a host of extremely talented players, Manitou started recording their debut EP at lead singer Paddy Boom’s home studio. The goal was a relaxed, ‘analog’ feel, so all the gear was set up and tracks were laid in Paddy’s living room.

The recording band was put together as the result of a few phone calls and started with Paddy Boom and Tim Shipman. In addition, they had the extreme pleasure of having the legendary Carlos Alomar (guitarist/musical director for David Bowie) the angelic and soulful vocalist N’Dea Davenport (Brand New Heavies/Celectrixx) and the rock-steady Paul Frazier (bass-David Byrne) on hand. Paddy Boom sang lead vocals, played drums and percussion. Tim Shipman musically directed the session, played guitar and Hammond organ. Also on bass was Sean Lewis, Alex Violette on saxophone and Henry Jeria on keyboards. Jason Mercer engineered the sessions. Once in the studio, the music came alive and the results exceeded their wildest expectations. The resulting EP ‘Help is on the way” is due out very soon.

Paddy and Tim’s musical partnership was the result of a series of tumultuous events that left them asking what to do in the wake of life-changing chaos. They suddenly became brothers-in-arms, realizing they had a mission to transform the energy of love, loss and despair into something musically beautiful. Manitou is the name of the street where they met, lived and where Paddy Boom’s “Camp Manitou” stands. Manitou is an Algonquian word referring to the the spirit of all things, the interconnection and balance of nature and life. Everything has its own Manitou, every plant, every stone, even machines.
Sun Club
Sun Club
SUN CLUB formed in 2012 out of an old band, with the purpose of making people go insane (in a great way). Pulling from influences like The Beach Boys and Animal Collective, SUN CLUB creates an array of energetic noises. After working with producer Steve Wright, their debut EP is out now on Goodnight Records.
