Chrome Cranks - (Set time: 12:00 AM)
Chrome Cranks
Since the 2009 reactivation of the classic 1990s lineup of the Chrome Cranks fans have been grinding their teeth for a new album of the influential New York band’s volatile, high-octane blasts. In these chokingly bleak, post-ironic times there simply aren’t any other acts out there like the Cranks, who play unapologetically confrontational, utterly incendiary rock ’n’ roll like they mean it with every poisoned pore. Like few bands before or since, the foursome—singer/guitarist Peter Aaron, guitarist William G. Weber, drummer Bob Bert, and bassist Jerry Teel—simultaneously embraces and destroys rock’s very traditions. But finally this soft, pain-deserving world has something new to choke on: Ain’t No Lies in Blood, the first album of new Chrome Cranks material since 1997, which is out now on Thick Syrup Records (CD) and Bang! Records (LP).
Pop. 1280 - (Set time: 11:15 PM)
Pop. 1280
Pop. 1280 are the hardest working scumbags in New York City. The leaders of the “nü-pigfuck” as coined by the Village Voice, these post-cyberpunks have been terrorizing unassuming audience members for the last four years. Band leaders Chris Bug and Ivan Lip formed the band in late 2008, and since then have released three seven inches, for Badmaster and Blind Prophet, in addition to two albums on Sacred Bones. The Grid EP, landed in 2010 and their near universally-acclaimed debut LP, The Horror followed in early 2012. They have been featured in Stereogum, Impose, and the Village Voice and got glowing reviews from Pitchfork, CMJ, Dusted, and the Agit Reader. The band has toured the East Coast and Midwest numerous times, including stops at Chicago’s famed Bitchpork fest and NY’s Northside Festival.
Twin Guns - (Set time: 10:30 PM)
Twin Guns
New York's TWIN GUNS features Andrea Sicco (Oscura, Rockethouse) and "Jungle" Jim Chandler (The Cramps, The Makers). Despite being just a duo, Twin Guns has the power and chops to really bring it. Drenched in reverb, fuzz and an overdose of atmosphere, Twin Guns combine parts Jesus & Mary Chain, the Count Five/Seeds vibe, and the New York "No Wave" scene into its own dark stew.
