Mon Khmer: myspace; Having met at Berklee College of Music in Boston, the five friends found home in Brooklyn and formed Mon Khmer, following a summer of session work that included Hammarsing (vocalist/guitarist) joining Albert Hammond Jr. on a world tour.
Assembled from a wide range of backgrounds, the band shirks identification with any one genre. Dave Cole (drums/synths) and Mathew Scheiner (bass/synths/vocals) draw heavily from Motown Records, Shuggie Otis and Steely Dan. The band is complemented withElias Meister’s (Guitarist/Synths) jazz upbringings as well Hammarsing’s, Durutti Column, George Harrison and David Bowie songwriting influences. Dave Kaye equips Mon Khmer with a devastating secret weapon, by adding his pedal steel touch layering the songs with beautiful sweeping hooking sounds.
Praise has indeed been high for the band's live shows, slowly captivating listeners sending them into a groove/trance/dance mode that is legitimately hard to resist. Being around for slightly over a year, Mon Khmer has shared stages with prodigious and unconventional Micachu & The Shapes from the UK and “auto-physio-psychic” Brooklyn locals Dragons of Zynth previously this year, and has performed at various exciting CMJ showcases with Savoir Adore, Naked Hearts & Rumspringa.

Caveman: myspace; Caveman started in January 2010 and has already begun getting their name out there. Their first show ever was opening for White Rabbits at Bowery Ballroom, after that they have shared the stage with Here We Go Magic (playing with them again April 30th at Maxwell's) and Cursive while only playing a handful of shows. April 16th will be Caveman's first headlining show. They will be recording their first LP starting later this month with Nick Stumpf of the French Kicks.
