Trumpet player, producer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, and singer- songwriter Michael Leonhart imagined and conceptualized an album that would meld the styles of Bollywood funk scores, Afrobeat, 1960's psychedelic rock, and the fantastical storytelling of artists like The Beatles, Donovan, and The Byrds. Seahorse and the Storyteller is a modern, kaleidoscopic opera that, in the words of Leonhart, "tells the story of two mythical creatures who meet, fall in love, and begin piecing together the mysteries of each other’s pasts."

“Seahorse and the Storyteller” is an album that borrows and redefines the essential essence from other genres to create one of its own. With angular arrangements featuring strings, Mellotron, fuzz guitar, horns, vibes, Farfisa, gang vocals, and practically every percussion instrument under the sun, Michael Leonhart & the Avramina 7 have created a new and unique sound that is reminiscent of artists like R.D. Burman, Fela Kuti, and The Funkees but manages to sound completely fresh and new, like nothing else out there.

Michael Leonhart, a New York native, has been making waves in the music and entertainment world since the age of 17, when he won a GRAMMY for being the most outstanding musician in a US high school. Since then, he has become a highly sought after trumpet player, producer, composer, songwriter, and arranger. Over the past 10 years, Michael has performed and/or recorded with some of the best names in music, including Yoko Ono, Mos Def, and Steely Dan, not to mention the 50 plus recordings he has appeared on for Truth & Soul Records.
Inyang Bassey & Binky Griptite
Feast your ears on what my arguably be the most soulful duo around. One of the most exciting new voices in NY, Inyang Bassey has been heavily featured while touring, recording and making the rounds with the icon that is Moby. Binky Griptite is the guitarist/emcee for the Dap Kings (Sharon Jones, Amy Winehouse, Nas, et al). These two have teamed up and they use the simple approach of one guitar and one voice to showcase some new songs and present a few soul and rock classics in a whole new light.
