Lelia Broussard
Lelia Broussard is described as a sultry, soulful pop artist. Lelia’s music is rooted in her South Louisiana heritage, but has taken influences from the Philly soul sound when she was transplanted to Philadelphia early in her career. Lelia is now an independent musician living in New York.
Alyson Greenfield - (Set time: 8:30 PM)
Alyson Greenfield
ALYSON GREENFIELD is a singer/songwriter and the founder of the Tinderbox Music Festival. Alyson experiments with pianos, guitars, autoharps, synthesizers, glockenspiels, chord organs, and beatboxers, and has been recognized by publications such as Paste, Relix, Beyond Race, The Deli, Beatcrave, and more. Her music has been heard on Fox Televeision and Rubyfruit Radio, as well as live from the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City to the Foyer de L'air in Mali, West Africa. Alyson has released two albums and is currently at work on her third, an album of covers featuring her version of Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise" on a glockenspiel which received media coverage during SXSW 2010 and was most recently featured at the 2010 International Human Beatbox Convention. Alyson also holds an MFA in creative writing and is the co-writer of Sitting on Fire, a film based on her short story, which screened at film festivals including the California Independent and the Philadelphia Documentary and Fiction Festival where it won Special Prize for Best Short Film. She is a former Chicago National Organization for Women Board Member, high school teacher, university instructor, tolerance educator, and currently a creative mentor and performer based in Brooklyn, NY.
Allison's Invention - (Set time: 7:30 PM)
Allison's Invention
Fearless honesty, poignant lyricism and powerful melodies are the textures used to weave Allison Invention’s (formerly Allison Tartalia) unforgettable music. Compelling and expressive performances have charmed and thrilled audiences throughout the country. Allison’s Invention’s new adult-alternative project, “Sweet and Vicious,” is a lush melodramatic pop EP. The songs feature Allison on piano and a variety of vintage keyboards. Strings and horns help to create the atmospheric soundscape. A staple on the New York music scene, this Astoria based artist is no stranger to accolades and applause. Allison was recently nominated for an Emmy alongside fellow composers for the music that they created for the documentary 5,000 Miles From Home.
Stephanie Carlin - (Set time: 6:30 PM)
Stephanie Carlin
In an era of fluff, filler and intellectual starvation, Stephanie Carlin’s work is a musical respite. There is a strength, power, humor and humility that belie her twenty-one years on this planet. Carlin speaks with wisdom and offers us emotional substance in an age of planned obsolescence and temporary notions. She feeds on emotion, lyrical substance, and endless depths of intricacy fused with intensely layered harmonies. A Long Island native whose path to Brooklyn always seemed clear, Carlin appeared on the New York music scene five years ago and has brought her original music to nearly 200 notable venues and festivals.
