The Figgs - (Set time: 7:00 PM)
The Figgs
The Figgs offer another focused and strong album in their plentiful musical cannon with "On The Slide" out May 13th on Stomper Music. It could be referred to as the "sister" album to 2015's "Other Planes of Here" which was originally conceived as a double album but that would not be fair. The Figgs' new studio album stands on its own and represents the growth the band continues to enjoy having played together for so long.

Since the rock outfit's inception in 1987, the band has spent the better part of the past 25 years touring, recording and working on a variety of acclaimed side projects. "On The Slide" continues to brim over with Kinks-inspired power and melodies, vibrant harmonies and sonic experimentation ala The Beatles and a grit and youthfulness akin to the best rock bands from The Who to the Ramones. But with continued growth as band and songwriters, the band's new material evolves with tones of The Band and a touch of NRBQ's stoner grooviness which offers up more of the exploration found on their previous studio release, 2015's "Other Planes of Here".

In their 29th year, The Figgs (Mike Gent, Pete Donnelly and Pete Hayes) have a lot to be proud of. The trio has a worldwide fan base, a hearty discography, and have toured and recorded several times with the legendary Graham Parker. And the band continues to attract new fans after a buzz of media activity helped raise awareness of the Figgs. The band had their song "Je T'adore" used in a Lexus ad and then were featured on a WTF with Marc Maron as they are one of his favorite bands.

Although the three band members now live in Boston (Gent), New York (Hayes) and Philadelphia (Donnelly) respectively, they frequently get together to tour or record whenever possible. 2016 will see the band touring even more than they have recently with shows booked in the Northwest, Southwest, Midwest and a trip overseas to Japan in late Fall.

There's no question the Figgs are one of America's most enduring rock 'n' roll bands. "On The Slide" showcases that even after all these years that the connection the three musicians have has not slid into a stagnant state but remains a vibrant and creative musical experience. The band's new album is a testament to their sheer love of music, as well as their drive, energy and power as one of America's greatest, yet grossly unknown, rock bands of more than two and a half decades.

Other Reviews & Accolades:

"It's criminal that the Figgs aren't ever played on the "Underground Garage." They're perfect for it and far better than most of the new stuff they play. The Figgs were always good, but now they're gooder. When the Figgs back me up, I don't know where my front is."
— Graham Parker

"The Figgs made it rain at a basement party in green bay. Their records show off their record collections as much as their live shows show off their lifestyle. I did say collection. Collective. A band. A real band. As songwriters they can do it all with two chords if they feel like it and send you home to burn your thesaurus and rhyming dictionary."
— Mike Viola (Candybutchers)

"For more than two decades, the high-energy band has delivered a dance-inducing variety of fast-paced pop rock, complete with catchy hooks and hip-shaking bass lines."
