Acquiesce - (Set time: 7:30 PM)
Crunching power chords, sharp song writing, and an endless supply of catchy riffs are at the core of New York's Acquiesce. The band's attack comes via long time friends Brett Kohart (vocals, guitar) and Dan Sweeney (lead guitar) while ably supported by a varying group of their musically talented East Village friends. Incorporating the best aspects of classic '60s and '70s hard rock, with the lyrical grandeur of '80s college radio fare, the band has staked its claim in the crowded New York City scene. What began as an informal jam session between two high school friends in the late nineties, Acquiesce has evolved into a swell of high-energy performances and word of mouth support. A track record of sold out venues up and down the East Coast from Boston to North Carolina as well as the West Coast is impressive in its own right, but the band's ongoing success relies primarily on its passion, and dedication to pushing creative boundaries. Never content to be one-dimensional, the band continues to offer fans (and itself) a broad palette of music and a memorable aural experience, with no gimmicks or affected airs. Art as it should be: straightforward, authentic and energized. Their latest EP, "Patiently Waiting" was released in January 2011.
Jonny Lives! - (Set time: 6:30 PM)
Jonny Lives!
Hailing from the same scene that championed The Strokes, the Mooney Suzuki, Fountains of Wayne, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jonny Lives! takes cues from the Brit-pop, rhythm ‘n blues, and LES punk scenes of the 60's and 70's and updates it with unbridled, anthemic rock..
Road-testing in the UK proved that Jonny Lives! is on to something. NME Magazine raved: “Jonny Lives! are so pant-droppingly brilliant that this reviewer has just been ordered to sex them down so you don't eat the magazine from sheer lust and excitement. So yes, ahem, Jonny Lives! Quite good. On ‘Get Steady,' Jonny Dubowsky manages to sound exactly like 'Raw Power' era Iggy.”
Their debut album features Nick Valenti (The Strokes) Sammy Davis Jr (Mooney Suzuki) and Jody Porter (Fountains of Wayne) and the band has appeared on Late Night W/ Conan O’brien and The Today Show. Tours with Everclear, Meatloaf, The Kaiser Chiefs, and many other bands keep them busy as they prepare to record their 3rd studio album for a Fall 2017 release.
